I was out in the streets of Nice, France with a colleague photographer and while on the Place Massena, took several shots of the tramway. This one is a paning shot and while sorting out the pictures of that evening, it caught my eye because of this passenger that sticks out, right in focus.

Moonset over the castle

I had been looking for a way to photograph the moon directly over the castle of the town where I live (Cagnes sur mer, France).

I scouted locations with sight of the castle and then used The Photographer's Ephemeris to find the best place and time and at 5am on April 18th, I was in position and the moon set over the castle exactly as planed.

Due to the dynamic range of the scene, I had to take two shots; one for the castle and one for the moon and composited them in Gimp. Framing between the two shots didn't change, only exposure (8s and 1/30s).

I used the web site http://www.bluehoursite.com to figure out the exact time of the blue hour, pretty handy !

This image is a stacked composite of 12 x 4 minute exposures at ISO 100 and f/4 + one exposure of 90 seconds at f/4 and ISO 400 where I light painted the tree.
